Green finance is a rapidly growing concept gaining global attention as countries recognize the need to address environmental challenges.
This paper examines the role of green finance in promoting sustainable development, focusing on developing economies. The research explores how these economies can use green finance to drive economic growth while addressing environmental issues and the challenges they face in adopting it. The study investigates the impact of green finance on reducing carbon emissions, supporting energy-efficient infrastructure, and promoting sustainable practices. A systematic review of past studies and policies analyzes the current green finance landscape, particularly in emerging economies like India, Bangladesh, and Pakistan. Key findings show that green finance is essential in transitioning from traditional financial models to sustainable alternatives, with the rise of green bonds and low-carbon technologies. However, challenges such as limited investor interest, inadequate policy frameworks, and insufficient funding for green projects remain significant barriers. The study suggests that government interventions, including emission controls and transparent reporting, are crucial to overcoming these challenges and scaling green finance. Despite the obstacles, the future of green finance looks promising, with increasing adoption across financial sectors and alignment with national development goals, as seen in initiatives like Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030.
